Artist's Comments

This tribal woman lives with her family on an island of Bandarban in the Chittagong Hill Tracts - Bangladesh. Very close from the Burma border (it shows on her face as you can see). This tribal area is protected by the gov. Me and my two friends, also photographers, had to be escorted by 3 cops to get into this area and also had to get an authorization from the local authorities to get in.
I will never forget this moment, these faces, this place.

Such a beautiful, deep photo... if I look at it long enough I can really see the deep emotion on her face. What were the reasons that made it necessary for you and your friends to have to be escorted in?

Its a very good shot.
If you stare into her eyes for a minute or two, you suddenly feel like you know her.
A great change from bland models with their excessive makeup and blank expressions.
